Serge Modular / Random Source Paperface 50 - Paris-Flash

The Paris-Flash is a control-dense Paperface 50 panel that leans into the raw, discrete building blocks of classic Serge design. Rather than relying on later, consolidated modules, it brings together individual slope generators and patch-programmable utilities - offering deeper flexibility, more nuanced behaviour, and a distinctly “patch-first” workflow.

At its core are multiple dedicated slope generators (Positive Slew, Negative Slew, Smooth & Stepped Generator, and Envelope Generator), allowing you to build complex envelopes, clocks, and evolving control voltages without compromise. Unlike integrated designs like the DUSG, each function remains independent - making it easier to dedicate sections to specific roles like timing, modulation, or audio-rate experimentation.

The inclusion of the Smooth & Stepped Generator (SSG) adds a huge amount of range, from sample & hold and chaotic modulation through to oscillation and lowpass gate-style behaviour depending on how it's patched. Combined with the Envelope Generator and window comparator, Paris-Flash excels at generating movement - from tightly structured rhythms to organic, shifting voltages.

A Dual CV Processor and Dual Gates provide the essential glue for shaping, scaling, and dynamically controlling signals, while the classic 1973 Filter brings unmistakable Paperface-era tone. With a balanced 1/4" output onboard, the panel is equally comfortable handling both control and audio duties, and can function as the foundation of a complete experimental voice.

Paris-Flash is less about convenience and more about possibility - a panel that rewards deep patching and hands-on exploration, staying true to the open-ended philosophy that defines Serge systems.
