The Tiptop Audio Buchla 248t MARF (Multiple Arbitrary Function Generator) brings one of Buchla's most legendary control voltage tools into the modern Eurorack format. Originally released in the 1970s, the MARF earned a near-mythical reputation for its depth, flexibility, and forward-thinking design. This updated 248t version faithfully recreates the original concept while refining it for contemporary modular workflows.

At its core, the MARF is far more than a sequencer. While it offers 16 stages of programmable control voltages, each stage can be independently configured with unique behaviours, allowing it to function as a sequencer, envelope generator, portamento processor, or a highly complex modulation source. Stages can step discretely or smoothly interpolate between values, be quantised to 12 divisions, mapped to specific voltage ranges, and assigned individual timing characteristics.

A defining feature of the MARF is its ability to group stages into programmable cycles, enabling the creation of evolving pitch sets, rhythmic structures, or multi-stage envelopes. Each stage can be assigned functions such as Start, Stop, Sustain, First, or Last, giving you precise control over how sequences and cycles behave. Stages can be addressed internally or via external CV and pulse inputs, opening the door to deeply interactive patching.

Despite its 16-stage architecture, the MARF includes two independently addressable output sections, allowing simultaneous access to different stages for layered modulation and complex interactions. A dedicated Time Multiplier (with CV control) scales timing globally from 0.5x to 4x, making it easy to stretch or compress modulation across a patch.

Across the top panel, the MARF provides a comprehensive set of outputs, including stored voltage, stage-based ramp reference, time-proportional voltage, and assignable pulse outputs. Integration with Tiptop's ART protocol enables seamless communication with compatible modules like the 259t, supporting precise tuning and expanded control possibilities, including polyphony.
